gimmie a player who he has the potential to become....because your description sounds like a bit meaner, less skilled sundin.

A good choice for 8. I kind of expected you to slip him up a bit higher, with how much you like the guy.

Still, agree with this choice for Carolina. Could slip nicely into their top 6 at some point.

Which would be terribly unfair to Carolina considering the number of superstars taken at #8 over the years...

1998 8th overall ~ Mark Bell
1999 8th overall ~ Taylor Pyatt
2000 8th overall ~ Nikita Alexeev
2001 8th overall ~ Pascal Leclaire
2002 8th overall ~ Pierre-Marc Bouchard
2003 8th overall ~ Braydon Coburn
2004 8th overall ~ Alexandre Picard
2005 8th overall ~ Devin Setoguchi
2006 8th overall ~ Peter Mueller
2007 8th overall ~ Zach Hamill
2008 8th overall ~ Mikkel Boedker
2009 8th overall ~ Scott Glennie
2010 8th overall ~ Alex Burmistrov
2011 8th overall ~ Sean Couturier

It certainly isnt the case that the spread of information via the internet and prospect evaluation has improved leaps and bounds over even the past 5 years has led to scouting become much more universal meaning that guys are better and more rightly ranked, so that players like Bumistrov and Couturier go top-10 instead of falling... making picks generally more correct.

That would just be logic.

Jeff Marek was the one that suggested it, but I don't think we take Faska here, we have Prv.

Also it's Gagner

I would like the Canes to pick Radek Faksa. The Kitchener Rangers have been very good to the Canes the past couple of years. I really like the way this kid plays.

Canes could use someone with his size to go along with their young core.

You say he doesn't have an offensive upside but 67 points in 62 games is not to bad for his first year in the OHL.

Isn't Faksa considered one of the safest picks in the first round because of his combination of size, skating, hockey IQ, & his defensive game?

Yes, a lot of people consider him safe. Also, I think he has extremely high upside-- I have him ranked 4th on my own list, but in talking to other scouts, many people don't see much more than a 2nd or 3rd line center. I'd disagree with them, but that's my personal opinion.

Canes don't have a second line center...used at least four or five guys in that spot last year. Skinner struggled, Ruutu struggled, Jokinen struggled...they even tried to move Sutter, & Brent up. No one filled that hole all year.

Hince all the Jordan Staal rumors. Sutter is a great 3rd line center, Eric Staal is a great 1st line center, but the Canes have no true 2nd line center.

Rask is in the system as a possible 2nd line center, but I'm not sold on him being a center at the NHL level. That is why Faksa make so much sense to the Canes...even though he will probably need another season in the OHL. It at least gives them another big strong future center in the system, & you never know about 1st rounders he could follow in Skinner's footsteps.

What you typed is exactly why he would be a perfect fit for Buffalo.
Adding him with Hodgson and Ennis would make a very strong, cheap, and young top 3 centers.
He could also play the wing on one of the top two lines if needed.

Go get him Buffalo!

I got that sense too, almost a reverse Sundin, start with the Defence, hone the offence.

TOR can play nice with ANA and swap picks for rights to Schultz, take Faksa at #6.

Similar to Olli Jokinen, but with passing skills?
